Celebrate Yourself This May
May 05, 2025Because You Deserve a Little Joy, Too.
As Mother’s Day approaches, there’s a natural tendency to think about the women who’ve shaped our lives—mothers, grandmothers, mentors, friends. Whether you're a mom, a caregiver, or simply someone who nurtures others in your own way, this time of year is a beautiful reminder to pause and honor the quiet strength so many women carry.
But here's the thing: Mother’s Day isn’t just about motherhood. It’s a celebration of nurturing, of emotional love, of giving and supporting others—something women do in so many forms, every single day. And often, we do it while juggling a career, managing a household, volunteering, mentoring others, and rarely stopping to catch our breath.
So, what if this year, instead of just buying flowers or planning brunch, we took a moment to celebrate ourselves?
What if we gave ourselves the gift of stillness, laughter, creativity, or rest?
Because You Deserve a Little Joy, Too.
As Mother’s Day approaches, most of the world turns its attention to honoring moms—biological, adoptive, chosen, bonus and everything in between. But let’s widen the lens for a moment. What if this season wasn’t just about traditional motherhood, but about celebrating all the ways women show up in the world?
Whether you’re a mom, stepmom, aunt, godparent, mentor, friend, team leader, or simply someone who nurtures others—you are doing meaningful, powerful, and often invisible work. And for many of us – we are most of these things! Now it’s time we stopped acting like that’s “just part of the job.”
Because nurturing is work.
Caring is work.
Listening is work.
Showing up, day after day, for people who need you—that’s a kind of strength that deserves to be acknowledged.
Too often, women move through the world carrying invisible loads. The mental checklist running through your head. The emotional energy spent supporting others. The calendar coordination, the relationship tending, the professional responsibilities. We wear multiple hats and don’t think twice about it—until one day, we do. Because we’re tired. Really tired.
And that’s where this May comes in—not just as a time to honor the mothers around us, but as a time to celebrate ourselves.
So whatever this week means to you, know that I am applauding you and how you show up every day. Thanks for being part of our HR World!
